Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

The Short Version

Typlx does not collect, store, or transmit your personal data or the text you type. Your writing stays in your browser and is never sent to any server.

What We Don't Collect

  • We do not collect the text you type or check
  • We do not track your browsing history or habits
  • We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising
  • We do not share any data with third parties
  • We do not require an account or email address

How Typlx Works

Typlx is a browser extension that performs grammar and spelling checks locally in your browser. All text processing happens on your device. The extension does not communicate with external servers for text analysis.

Open Source Transparency

Typlx is open source. You can inspect every line of code to verify our privacy claims. Our source code is available at github.com/typlx/chrome-grammar-fix-extension.

Browser Permissions

Typlx requests only the minimum browser permissions needed to function:

  • Active tab access — to read and check text on the current page
  • Storage — to save your preferences locally in your browser

These permissions are used exclusively for the extension's core functionality. No data collected through these permissions is transmitted externally.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this policy, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above. Since Typlx is open source, any changes to data handling would also be visible in the public code repository.
